Youth Panel

Are you aged between 16 and 25?
Interested in music?
Do you want to contribute to shaping the future of an arts organisation?

Why not join Canolfan Gerdd William Mathias’ Youth Panel?

CGWM is keen to make sure that young people have a voice in shaping the future of  the Music Centre. We wish to recruit more young people to our Youth Panel in 2024. We encourage young people (aged 16-25) who are interested in helping us to realise our aim of providing an ambitious and inclusive programme of activities to get in touch.

The panel meets approx. 4 times a year on zoom with the chair reporting to CGWM’s board of Trustee-Directors on a regular basis. There are also opportunities to meet face-to-face at CGWM events.  We hope that some members of the youth panel will consider becoming members of the Board of Trustee-Directors in the future.

As well as contributing ideas, the Youth Panel will take responsibility for arranging some activities as part of CGWM’s programme working with the staff.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop organisation, marketing and budgeting skills.

We are confident that the Youth Panel can contribute creative and fresh ideas to help us achieve some of CGWM’s main aims for the future including:

  • Engage with groups currently under-represented in the Arts.
  • Develop the musical talents of children, young people and adults.
  • Support young people who wish to develop a career in music.
  • Expand CGWM’s Arts in Health programme.
  • Expand CGWM’s provision to include all genres of music from classical to electronic, world music to rock.

We arrange translation service for the meetings to enable members to contribute in Welsh or English.

CGWM is keen to celebrate the diversity of the young people of Wales and encourages and welcomes applications from young people of all gender identities, race, sexual orientation, marital status, religion or belief, nationality, ethnic origin and young disabled people.

CGWM’s current students, past student and young people who have an interest in music and haven’t engaged with CGWM before are encouraged to apply.

To apply please send (by email to meinir@cgwm.org.uk) :

A short email introducing yourself and explaining why you would like to be a member of the youth panel and what you feel you could offer to the panel.

Or

A video (up to 2mins in length) introducing yourself and explaining why you would like to be a member of the youth panel and what you feel you could offer to the panel.
